Parents Advising in Special Education (PASE)

Memorial Middle School Representative – Teri DeFazio ([email protected])

Hello Special Ed Parents,

I have been selected to be a parent representative on a newly formed PASE Committee for the 2018-2019 school year. This committee has been created by the Director of Special Education, Joni Warren, and will meet four times per school year.

My role as PASE representative for Memorial Middle is to:

A) serve as liaison between the Central Special Education Department and parents of students with special needs;

B) work directly with the Director of Special Education to gain relevant information regarding all students in Special Education;

C) serve as point of contact for families of students with special needs at Memorial Middle and to direct parents to appropriate personnel when concerns arise;

D) work to establish a sense of community and facilitate communication and collaboration between the Special Education department and parents of special needs students at Memorial Middle.

You will find additional information regarding SBISD’s Special Education programs and other helpful resources at www.springbranchisd.com (“students & family”; “special education”).

Joni Warren, Director of Special Education for SBISD, has recently provided the members of the PASE committee with a link to the Parent Coordination Network. The Parent Coordination Network is committed to ensuring that parents of students with disabilities receive accurate and timely information to assist in making informed choices in their children’s education. Below is a link to the parent newsletter to share with parents of students with disabilities.
